I am a psychiatric nurse-practitioner by training, and a devoted practitioner and student of Buddhism for over 13 years. I provide life and health coaching with a Buddhist orientation as an alternative to the reductionistic, hubris-filled, pathology-focused thinking of conventional mental health and wellness. The latter fails to account for the innate wholeness and wisdom of human beings. Coaching stresses honesty, courage, and personal responsibility. You will be expected to show up for yourself.

Coaching is also present and future-centered. It is not a replacement for diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders. We will not be using psychotherapies to heal past traumas; however I am trauma-informed and sensitive and neuroscience-educated. We will be clarifying values, longings, un-processed grief, and goals using coaching techniques, somatic tracking, mindfulness, and dialogic process. We will befriend emotions and learn to receive the information they convey.  We will be cultivating mindfulness, self-compassion, somatic awareness, and acceptance to help you reach your goals. We will be using Buddhist philosophy and "withness-thinking" (John Shotter, a developer of dialogic therapy) as a foundation for our work together.  This approach is not for everyone. Familiarity with a school of Buddhism and experience with some  meditation lineage before working with me is a plus.

I have a certificate in Life Coaching from Transformation Academy. My nursing and psychiatry education are from Yale University and the University of California San Francisco.
